This project aims to take the beauty of traditional Japanese culture and artwork and make it contemporary for todays fashion world without losing its meaning or significance. It is one thing to make a kimono, a traditional garment from Japan. However, it is another to take that and show inspiration through it without showing it is a kimono. To take inspiration from style lines, colors, and shapes and make it ready for the runway.
Digital Printing is what makes this entire garments possible! The intricate details, colors, patterns and repetitiveness needed in order to create that look of Japanese tradition requires fabric that has a pattern printed.
